Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)

 

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Nona Getaways will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. After settling in, take some time to relax or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the evening, a group briefing will be held to discuss the trek itinerary, safety protocols, and gear checklist. This is a great opportunity to meet your fellow trekkers and your guide. Enjoy a welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepali cuisine.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola (890m)

 

The day begins with an overland drive heading west from Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. Enjoy scenic views of terraced hillsides, rivers, and rural villages as we follow the Trishuli and later Budhi Gandaki Rivers. We pass through towns like Arughat and Labubesi before reaching Machha Khola, a riverside settlement and the trek’s starting point. Though the road can be rough at times, it provides glimpses of local life and natural beauty.

Day 3: Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (1340m)

 

Today we start trekking along the narrow Budhi Gandaki gorge, crossing suspension bridges and moving through small settlements like Khorlabesi and Tatopani, known for its natural hot spring. The trail winds through bamboo forests and climbs steadily until we reach Jagat, a well-kept stone village that marks the official entry into the Manaslu Conservation Area. Here, trekkers register permits and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day 4: Trek from Jagat to Lokpa (2240m)

 

Leaving Jagat, we ascend past terraced fields and tropical forests, crossing the Budhi Gandaki via suspension bridge. As we gain elevation, the scenery becomes more dramatic. We soon leave the main Manaslu trail and turn toward the remote Tsum Valley. The climb to Lokpa, the gateway to Tsum, is challenging but rewarding with our first glimpse of Ganesh Himal.

Day 5: Trek from Lokpa to Chumling (2386m)

 

Today’s trek takes us deeper into Tsum Valley, following trails that pass through pine forests, cascading waterfalls, and narrow canyons. After crossing the Syar Khola on a suspension bridge, we ascend steeply to reach Chumling. The village showcases traditional Tibetan-style homes, mani walls, and prayer wheels. Views of Shringi Himal and Ganesh Himal dominate the skyline.

Day 6: Trek from Chumling to Rachen Gompa (3240m)

 

We continue ascending through fertile fields and stone villages adorned with prayer flags. The landscape becomes more spiritual, with countless chortens and mani stones lining the trail. Arriving at Rachen Gompa, we visit one of the most important nunneries in the valley, home to over 100 nuns. The peaceful surroundings and Tibetan Buddhist ambiance offer a deep sense of serenity.

Day 7: Trek from Rachen Gompa to Mu Gompa (3700m) via Nile (3361m)

 

This high-altitude trek moves through arid terrain with wide Himalayan vistas. After passing Nile, the last permanent settlement in the upper Tsum Valley, we ascend to Mu Gompa. Perched beneath towering peaks, this centuries-old monastery offers insight into Tibetan monastic life and unmatched views of the surrounding landscape.

Day 8: Trek from Mu Gompa to Chumling (2386m)

 

After a quiet morning visiting Mu Gompa and possibly exploring nearby meditation caves, we begin our descent down the valley. Retracing our steps through Nile and Rachen Gompa, we continue descending through familiar terrain until we reach Chumling. The walk offers more relaxed pacing, giving time to absorb the spiritual essence of the valley.

Day 9: Trek from Chumling to Deng (1860m)

 

Today we leave Tsum Valley behind and reconnect with the main Manaslu Circuit trail. Descending through Lokpa, we follow a rugged riverside path through thick bamboo forests and past cascading waterfalls. Arriving in Deng, we find a quaint Tibetan-style village perched above the Budhi Gandaki River.

Day 10: Trek from Deng to Namrung (2630m)

 

The trail today gradually ascends through dense forests and classic Himalayan villages. We pass through Ghap, a culturally rich stop with intricate mani stones and prayer wheels. The path follows the Budhi Gandaki upstream, crossing it multiple times via bridges. As we approach Namrung, striking views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal come into view.

Day 11: Trek from Namrung to Lho (3180m)

 

We ascend through pine and fir forests, stopping at villages like Lihi and Sho. Along the way, the views become increasingly majestic, with clear glimpses of Mt. Manaslu and Himalchuli. Lho is a large village with a strong Tibetan Buddhist presence and home to the impressive Ribung Monastery. The sunset over Manaslu from here is unforgettable.

Day 12: Trek from Lho to Samagaon (3520m)

 

A relatively short hike leads us through the picturesque village of Shyala, surrounded by glacier-covered peaks and yak pastures. Arriving at Samagaon, we find ourselves in the largest and most vibrant village in the region, with dramatic views of Mt. Manaslu looming overhead. Prayer flags flutter across rooftops and locals go about daily life steeped in Tibetan tradition.

Day 13: Acclimatization Day in Samagaon

 

This essential rest day helps our bodies adjust to higher altitudes. Optional hikes include a scenic walk to turquoise Birendra Lake, a spiritual journey to Pungen Monastery, or a challenging climb to Manaslu Base Camp. Each option offers spectacular mountain views and deeper cultural insight. It’s a day for rest, reflection, and gentle exploration.

Day 14: Trek from Samagaon to Samdo (3860m)

 

We follow a gradual ascent through yak fields and open plains. As the vegetation thins, the landscape becomes increasingly stark and rugged. We pass ancient mani walls before arriving at Samdo, a Tibetan refugee village close to the Chinese border. The village provides panoramic views and a strong sense of isolation.

Day 15: Trek from Samdo to Larkya Phedi (4480m)

 

The trek today is short but crucial for acclimatization. We walk through desolate terrain, crossing glacial streams and barren hillsides. Larkya Phedi (also called Dharamsala) serves as the staging point for tomorrow’s pass crossing. Early arrival allows for adequate rest and preparation for the most challenging part of the trek.

Day 16: Cross Larkya La Pass (5160m), Trek to Bimthang (3720m)

 

We start early for the dramatic ascent to Larkya La Pass. The climb is slow and steady over rocky terrain, rewarded by jaw-dropping views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II at the top. After celebrating at the summit, we descend a steep trail to reach the alpine valley of Bimthang.

Day 17: Trek from Bimthang to Tilije (2560m)

 

The trail descends through lush rhododendron and oak forests, passing yak pastures and glacial rivers. We cross numerous wooden bridges and trek past settlements such as Karche and Gho before arriving at the culturally vibrant Gurung village of Tilije. It’s a scenic and rewarding final day of trekking.

Day 18: Drive from Tilije to Kathmandu (1400m)

 

After breakfast, we board a jeep that takes us through Dharapani and Besi sahar, reconnecting with paved roads for the drive back to Kathmandu. The journey retraces the Marsyangdi River valley, offering time to reflect on the trek’s beauty and spiritual richness. In the evening, rest at your hotel or explore the lively Thamel area. .

Day 19: Final Departure

 

Our team will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. As your Himalayan adventure concludes, you leave with unforgettable memories of the sacred valleys, ancient monasteries, towering peaks, and the warm-hearted people of Nepal.
